Exploring the land-lost farmers' sustainable livelihood in underdeveloped areas is of the significance for regulating the healthy and coordinated development of China urbanization and the realization of rural revitalization. Based on the conception and analytical framework, we developed an indicator system to evaluate livelihood sustainability from four indicators including the per capita income level, the livelihood diversity, the employment rate land-lost and the enrollment rate of the family, we used entropy method to quantitatively evaluate the farmers' current livelihood maintenance ability and sustainability, and performed the regression analysis on the reasons for their differences of livelihood sustainability by using the data obtained from field investigation through using participatory rural appraisal in Anning District, Gansu Province. The results show that:(1)most land-lost farmers were able to achieve livelihood maintenance goals, but there was still a gap between the maintenance goal and the sustainability goal;(2)livelihood diversity and employment rate occupied a large weight in the sustainable livelihood evaluation, while livelihood diversity was the main source of the differences in the sustainable livelihood evaluation results;(3)human capital, material capital, financial capital and social capital have different positive effects on the improvement of livelihood sustainability, which were the key factors impacting the land-lost farmers livelihood sustainability in Anning District.
