To scientifically reveal the spatiotemporal evolution characteristics of information entropy of land use structure in rapidly urbanized areas and its influencing factors,Guangdong Province was taken as the case study. Based on the remote sensing monitoring data of land use from 1990 to 2018,we used the theory of information entropy and the method of nonlinear fitting to discuss the relationship between the and use intensity, the proportion of cultivated land, the proportion of construction land and the information entropy of land use structure in Guangdong Province to provide a scientific basis for the sustainable use of land resources and ecological environment protection in Guangdong Province. The results show that:(1)from 1990 to 2018,the average information entropy of land use structure in Guangdong showed the increasing-stable-increasing trend; from the perspective of spatial distribution, the information entropy of land use structure decreased in the order: East Wing(1.280)>West Wing(1.107)>Pearl River Delta(1.056)>Mountain(0.817); moreover, the information entropy in the Pearl River Delta declined from 2000 to 2018,and was contrary to the provincial average and the other three regional trends;(2)during the study period, the land use degree and the construction land proportion in Guangdong Province continued to increase from 3.53 and 9.60% to 3.88 and 15.10%,respectively; the cultivated land proportion continued to decrease from 31.57% to 27.23%;(3)the influences of the land use intensity, the cultivated land and the construction land proportion on the information entropy of land use structure all had thresholds; in the Pearl River Delta from 1990 to 2018,these areas that the land use degree and construction land proportion exceeded the threshold were continuously increasing, which led to the decrease of its information entropy, while many other areas are still in the state before the threshold. The increase of land use degree and construction land proportion will promote the increase of information entropy of land use structure.
