[Objective] To investigate the differences in soil and water conservation effects between maize and soybean under rainstorm conditions, providing theoretical basis for soil erosion control and crop selection on slope farmland. [Methods] Maize and soybean, common summer crops on the Loess Plateau, were selected as the study subjects. Artificial rainfall simulation experiments were conducted to compare differences in soil and water conservation effects between maize and soybean at different growth stages under different slope gradients(3°, 5°, 10°, 15°, 20°) and rainfall intensities(40 and 80 mm/h). [Results](1) Maize and soybean at different growth stages showed small differences in vegetation coverage, but large differences in leaf area index and plant height. (2) Under the same rainfall intensity and similar growth stages, the average runoff rate, average sediment yield rate, and average sediment concentration on slopes consistently followed the order: soybean
