[Objective] The aim of this paper is to explore the spatiotemporal evolution characteristics and driving factors of coupling coordination between green transformation of cultivated land use and tourism development in the Yangtze River Delta from 2006 to 2021, so as to provide an important reference for achieving the transformation and upgrading of the sustainable use of cultivated land and the high-quality and comprehensive development of the tourism industry. [Methods] In this paper, the research framework of ‘pattern-process-mechanism’ of the green transformation of cultivated land use and tourism development was explored by using the improved entropy method, the coupling coordination degree model, the heat map analysis, the inverse distance weight interpolation method, and the geographically and temporally weighted regression model. [Results](1) The coupling coordination level of green transformation of cultivated land use and tourism development in cities in the Yangtze River Delta tended to develop harmoniously as a whole from 2006 to 2018, and declined from 2019 to 2021.(2) From 2006 to 2021, the coupling coordination level of green transformation of cultivated land use and tourism development in cities in the Yangtze River Delta increased first, then decreased, and then gradually increased, showing the spatial distribution characteristic of ‘low in the northwest and high in the southeast’.(3) The coupling coordination level of green transformation of cultivated land use and tourism development was driven by a combination of economic, social, environmental and innovative factors. The per capita net income of farmers and the number of patent applications for green inventions were the dominant driving factors. [Conclusion] There is still much room for improvement in the coupling coordination level of green transformation of cultivated land use and tourism development in cities in the Yangtze River Delta. It is necessary to customize the development strategy from three aspects: differentiated governance, ecological regulation, and major driving factors.
