In order to explore the variation characteristics of precipitation structure in Henan Province, based on the daily precipitation data of 17 meteorological stations in Henan Province from 1960 to 2019, the spatial and temporal variation characteristics and its variation trends of different precipitation duration and precipitation grade in Henan were analyzed by using mathematical statistics, GIS and Mann-Kendall methods. The results show that:(1)the precipitation incidence rate decreased with the increase of precipitation duration, the occurrence rate of short precipitation duration(1~2 d)was 74.03%, which was dominant; the contribution rate of ≥5 d precipitation duration was the largest(26.73%), followed by 2 d(26.20%), 3 d(18.68%), 4 d(14.43%)and 1 d(13.96%); the precipitation incidence rate decreased with the increase of precipitation grade; the contribution rate of different precipitation grade was between 23.36% and 28.20%, showing a balanced distribution, and the contribution rate of precipitation grade was relatively balanced relative to the precipitation incidence rate;(2)the spatial difference of precipitation structure was significant; the incidence rate and contribution rate of short and medium precipitation duration(1~3 d)gradually increased from south to north, and the precipitation over 3 days decreased from south to north; the incidence rate and contribution rate of light rain increased from southeast to northwest, and the incidence rate and contribution rate of rainstorm decreased from southeast to northwest;(3)Mann Kendall trend analysis showed that the change trends were similar between incidence rate and contribution rate for precipitation durations, showing that the incidence rate of shorter precipitation duration increased, while the rate of longer precipitation duration decreased; in terms of the change trend of precipitation grade, the incidence rate and contribution rate of light rain showed a downward trend, while the incidence rate and contribution rate of heavy rain and rainstorm showed an upward trend. In recent 60 years, the precipitation structure of Henan had a trend of transferring to extreme heavy precipitation.
