Changes in total P, Bray 1-P, microbial biomass P, inorganic P and organic P fractions in soils were investigated in four aged Chinese fir plantation forests (3, 8, 18 and 26-year-old stands) in Huitong, Hunan Province, China. Stepwise regression analysis and path analysis were used to reveal the dominant factors affecting soil microbial biomass P form phosphorus factors and soil physical and chemical properties. The results showed that:(1) the average value of the microbial biomass P content was 6.90 mg/kg in the four examined aged stands. the average concentrations of total P and Bray 1-P were 320.71 mg/kg, 1.77 mg/kg, respectively, but they were all at the low levels; (2) the influence of factors on MB-P in four aged Chinese fir plantation forests:In 3-year-old stand, Bray 1-P,Al-P were significantly positively correlated with MB-P; in 8-year-old stand, N/P,LO-P, soil water, and MRO-P were positively correlated with MB-P; in 18-year-old stand, Fe-P,N/P, Al-P,Bray 1-P were positively correlated with MB-P; in 26-year-old stand, Fe-P, TP were positively correlated with MB-P. In conclusion, different factors of stands with different ages had different influence on MB-P.
