Soil erosion and rock-desertification are severe in Guizhou. The planting base of Rosa sterillis which is located in Huilong Town, Xinren County, Southwest of Guizhou Province was taken as the study site. Mathematical statistics method was utilized to determine minimum data sets and soil qualities were also evaluated based on 16 soil physical, chemical and biological property indicators. According to quadrats on different slope positions, the comparative analysis of corresponding soil qualitiy evaluation results was carried out. The results showed that: (1) the minimum data sets of soil quality assessment in 16 research areas included soil organic matter, pH Value, total potassium, hydrolyzable nitrogen and phosphatase; (2) the soil qualities of upper slope, the middle slope and lower slope were determined at intermediate and lower levels, soil quality indices were 0.544, 0.409 and 0.503, respectively; (3) the important indexes affecting soil quality were soil organic matter and soil fungi amount.
