We established evaluation index system of land use status and standard based on weighted least square method, quantitatively evaluated land use of Yangling from perspectives of land development degree, intensive land use degree and comprehensive profits of land use. The results showed that: (1) land development degree of Yangling reached to the high level, and the major contributor was the construction of land utilization; intensive land use degree was higher due to the local government using the ’land bank’ for the farm household land transfer; most of the transferred land went to high input and high output greenhouse land use, which had the higher input-output ratio; (2) comprehensive profits of land use were at the middle level mainly due to less arable land per capita, and low crop yields and economic returns; land use comprehensive evaluation results showed that land use was still in sustainable reasonable use phase; (3) excessive application of fertilizers was very common in agricultural land use, therefore, how to balance economic and environmental and food safety is a big issue to be studied in the future.
