As a result of heavy rains, steep topography, young and weak geological formations, strong earthquakes, loose soils, land development in mountainous terrain, many mountainous areas in Taiwan are susceptible to landslides and debris flows. This paper introduced the debris-flow monitoring and warning system in Taiwan.
