A systematic study was conducted to examine the growth condition of the population, the seed bank in the litter layer, the composition of soil seed bank in the different position on slope and its quantitative characteristics, vegetative life-form and the similarity with aboveground vegetation. The results showed: (1) The characteristics of soil seed bank in the plots were identified as 24 species through germination test in the lab, which belongs to 16 families. In the species of seed bank, perennial herbs and shrubs occupied dominant positions; and accounted for 58.33% and 12.5% respectively; (2) The density of the seed bank was 12 761.44 seeds/m2, the seed mainly existed in the litter layer and 0-2.5 cm soil horizon and the density of the seed of Q. Liaotungensis was 752.5 seeds/m2 (5.89%), which indicated a low germination rate of it and a slow restoration; (3) The diversity index in the down slope was higher than the other positions and they were all higher than the control; (4) The natural forest developed well and it was dominated by adult trees. (5) With an analysis of variance, the diameter at breast height and aboveground were both at significant difference in the different position on slope. (6) With a correlation analysis, the height and weight of the litter layer were at low denpendability with the seed bank’s density.
