Referring to a large number of domestic and foreign literature on research methods of tree transpiration, and authors concluded that there are mainly two types of research methods of tree transpiration, which includes determination of tissues and organs, determination of individual tree. This paper reviewed the typical research methods (Quick-weighing method, Porometer method, Whole-tree method, Isotopic tracer method, Heat pulse velocity method, Trunk (segment) heat balance method, Thermal dissipation probe method) from the perspective of classification. And the merits and drawbacks of various methods were contrastively analyzed and the scope of their application. A prospect on application of research methods of tree transpiration was given that thermal methods is the main determination in the next few years.
