The investigation and comparision of soil hydrological and physical properties are carried out in the different types of sites such as Larix principis-rupprechtii, sunny grassland, semi-shady grassland, Ostryopsis davidiana, Hippophae rhamnoides in the north side of Liupan Mountain. The results show that these plots are different among soil bulk density, water holding capacity and the infiltration characteristic. The water holding capacity is between 520.3~585.82 mm; The initial infiltration coefficients and stable infiltration coefficients are between 0.76~9.71 mm and 0.50~2.93 mm/min respectively. After a comparison, it can be concluded that the plantation of Larix principis-rupprechti plays a good role in increasing soil infiltration and water-holding capacity in the studied region.
