By high resolution imageries of Quick Bird in 2006 and airphotos in 1982,together with exactly measured data by GPS before and after rainy season,a typical gully, which locates in Shagou River basin,Gonghe Basin,Qinghai Province, was monitored dynamically on different spatial and temporal scales in support of the GIS software.Preliminary results show that:the erosion rate of gulch is high, which mainly presents in the form of headward erosion.Shape of gully varied little, but the gully head varied obviously. It is credible that the gully expands at the speed of 12 m/a.Moreover,the authors point out the gulch erosion does serious harm to local villagers’ life and production and Longyangxia reservoir.
