In this paper, Mexican Hat Wavelet was used to analyze the multi-scale characteristics of the climate change in the upper and middle reaches of Yellow River Basin, based on the monthly data of temperature and precipitation from 1956 to 2006 coming from the total 85 meteorological observation stations respectively. The results showed that there were different variation rules in climate factors during 51 years in the upper and middle reaches of Yellow River Basin with temporal scale changes. The interactions of rules had impact on changes of climate characteristics in this region. Meanwhile, the wavelet coefficients patterns exhibit a probable increasing trend in temperature and humidity in the following years.
