Wandong River is a tributary of the Dadu River on the upper reach, with 170.6 km2 of basin area and 137.5‰ of river-bed gradient.By research on formation condition, characteristic of debris flow in main river and tributaries,we know that main river often breaks out low frequency and transitional debris flow, with return period of 50~100 years.Debris flow happened in Yinchang Gully and Banbanpeng Gully are medium-low frequency debris flow, with return period of 10~20 years and 20~30 years for the moderate-scaled debris flows,50~100 years for the large-scaled ones. All of the debris flows in tributaries are viscous. This paper has also discussed debris flow hazard assessment in Wandong River.Yinchang Gully and Banbanpeng Gully are the high hazard debris flow gullies, with the hazard degree of 0.68,0.70,0.61,respectively.
