Debris flow is a type of natural hazard that occurs suddenly in mountainous regions and can bring great damage to the economic development and the lives and property of local residents.Jiangjia Valley in the northeast part of Yunnan province is famous for the activity of debris flow. The cause of debris flow hazard in Jiangjia Valley is analyzed in detail on the basis of both the natural environment in the basin and the economic activity of local residents. Then corresponding countermeasures were put forward according to the characteristics of debris flow. This research is of certain significance to the prediction and mitigation of debris flow hazard in Jiangjia Valley.
