We take the Chongqing section of the Three Gorges Reservoir Area as the research site. Based on the vector data of the landsat TM human-machine combined interpretation data, we use the methods of ecosystem service value measurement, and spatial analysis to analyze the evolution characteristics of land ecosystem services in the four periods from 2000 to 2015. The results show that:(1) the phenomenon of ‘three increases and three reductions’ in land use change in the study area is obvious, the conversion of cultivated land, forest land and grassland to construction land and water bodies is dominant, and the increase of construction land is fast along the urban area; the value of ecosystem services in the study area increased first and decreased later; the arable, forestry, and grass stages changed more into the water bodies; the ecosystem services remained stable and even improved; later, the construction land was changed more, the ecosystem was fragmented, and services were provided; (2) the spatial correlation of ecosystem service value and service value change rate in the study area gradually enhanced, the spatial agglomeration effect was obvious; the urban area clustered and expanded in a narrow and long form; (3) with respect to spatial distribution characteristics of ecosystem services value in the Chongqing section of the Three Gorges Reservoir Area, ecosystem service values in the northern region of the Three Gorges Reservoir area were higher than the south, and ecosystem service values were higher in the east than the west, the ecosystem service value started from the lowest southwestern Chongqing urban area, gradually increased in the north; the heterogeneity of spatial distribution continued to increase, at the same time, this trend was expanding northward and eastward, which was consistent with the trend of urban expansion and construction land increase in districts and counties with high urbanization and urbanization in Chongqing. This study can provide the reference for the improvement of regional ecological environment and improvement of land use pattern in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area.
