To explore the ecological functions of four typical larch stands in mountain of northern Hebei, the four different larch forest types such as larch, mixture of larch and birch, coniferous–broadleaved mixed forest and mixture of larch andconiferous fir were chosen as the samples. The clean air and water conservation functions were investigated through the calculation of biomass and water-holding capacity determination, and estimation of carbon sequestration and oxygen release in different stands. The results showed that function efficiency index of stand D was the highest, followed by stand B and stand C, the least one occurred in stand A, therefore, stand D is optimal and its ecological function is the most powerful among the four stands.
