Land category adjacency ratio, land urbanization rate in village-level region and theoretical location model of interlaced farmers were framed to analyze rural land category distribution pattern and formation mechanism at mesescopic and microscopic levels where Yangzhou city was taken as an example. The results show that: (1) rural land category distribution has the property of coupling, source land category exerts a decisive influence on the distribution of target land category, among them market town and highway exert a middle view influence, paddy-duckweed pond and rural road exert a micro-scale influence; (2) at the level of micro-scale, main rural land category presents a distribution pattern of concentric circles or ribbon due to topographical factor; at the level of middle-scale, main rural land category presents a distribution pattern of U-shape, mainly embodies the spatial difference of land urbanization rate, the formation of the two modes is the result of selection which farmers follow the principle of cost minimization or benefit maximization; (3) land category adjacency ratio could be used to analyze the spatial dependence degree at the level of micro-scale; theoretical location model of interlaced farmers could be used to analyze the internal relation between site selection of habitation and economic development. These two analysis methods have certain methodology significance.
