Net primary productivity is the core research filed of the international geosphere-Biosphere Programme (IGBP), the Global Change and Terrestrial Ecosystems (GCTE) as well as the Kyoto Protocol. Taking GIS as the main technical means, based on the theory of CASA model, NPP of mountain in Hebei province was calculated and analysis on distribution of vegetation NPP and the distribution of forest and grassland NPP has been carried out. The statistical analysis,on main factor causing this change, the preliminary discussion, analysis and evaluation model of the uncertainty have been carried. The results show that:(1) in mountain of Hebei Province in 2012, the amount of vegetation NPP was 24 746.51 kt/a, with a mean of 744.1 g/(m2·a), on the whole, vegetation NPP mainly distributed in the Yanshan Mountains, it distributed as the band pattern in the Taihang Mountains, and it scattered in other areas; (2) the NPPs are significantly different, which decrease in the order of forests > grasslands > shrub land; (3) spatial distribution of NPP and temperature and spatial distribution of precipitation has certain correlation, only in the case of appropriate hydrothermal conditions and NPP value maximum. Research results can lay the foundation for the mountainou ecosystem structure and function coordination, ecological carrying capacity, ecological service function and other follow-up in Hebei Province, and provide scientific basis for the mountainou social economy and ecological environment sustainable development.
