Ecologic and clean-type small watershed needs present, macroscopical, detailed, and accurate basic information during the process of planning and management. Remote sensing technology provides a fast and effective technical means for the acquisition of fundamental information. Using high resolution remote sensing image and digital elevation model data as the main data source, remote sensing technology and mathematical modeling were applied to monitor and analyze the spatial layout of land use, slope, channel, vegetation coverage, soil erosion and other basic information of Nanwan watershed in Yanqing County, Beijing. By conducting the spatial analysis techniques including overlay, buffer, path planning, etc. on these information, the ecological preserve zoon(31.41 hm2), ecological management zoon(348.04 hm2) and ecological rehabilitation zoon(1 788.38 hm2) for Nanwan watershed was delimited. Main management zoon covers an area of 212.93 hm2, which accounts for 9.8% of the total area of the small watershed. Combined with field survey, this work auxiliary designed 9 control measures including setting prohibited area, economic forest, water-saving irrigation, etc. Results can provided scientific basis for the planning management primary design of small watershed.
