- Abstract:
- The maritime type glaciers in Gongga Mountain are very sensitive to climate change. Landsat TM, MSS and ETM+ data were used to extract the glacier outlines in 1974, 1990, 2000, and 2010. And it was concluded that the glacial area decreased 30.20 km2 (11.86%) and the glacial altitude increased 44 m in the mountain from 1974 to 2010. The main reason for glacial retreat was temperature rise. It is estimated that the glacier retreat rate will accelerate.
