In historical period of dry lake bed of Ebinur Lake Southeast, a sampling belt with abundant vegetation type of length of 1 500 m and wide 1 000 m was chosen to study the seasonal variation and distribution characteristics of the major ions, salinity and organic matter of dry lakebed sedimentary soil in the Ebinur region of Western Dzungaria, Xinjiang Province, China. Soil samples of 0—30 cm depth and 30—60 cm were collected with auger boring. The results indicated that the average value of salt content of surface soil (0—30 cm) accounts for 73.3% of the whole sampling layer (0-60 cm) in dry lakebed sediment. The vertical distribution of salinity sediments shows strong surface accumulation. The spatial distribution of soil salinity has undergone great changes from May to October. Soil salinity shows the increasing trend from bottom to top in the vertical profile, soil salinity in autumn is greater than that in summer in the horizontal section. Evaporation plays a significant role in spatial distribution of soil salinity in the dry lakebed. The general rule of spatial variation of different ion in Ebinur Lake dry lakebed is that the coefficient of variation of surface soil is greater than deep soil except Ca2+. The contents of soil organic carbon and organic matter are slightly higher in October than in May. Regulating effect of salt desert plant makes distribution pattern of the surface organic carbon and organic matter change in the process of its life activity.
