Farmers’ behaviours are the main reasons for rural soil and water loss, and it aslo is the main measures of soil and water conservation and ecological restoration. By means of participatory farmer interview (PRA), the household interview survey was conducted in the typical karst mountain area of Guangdong Province so as to analyze the coupling relationship between farmers’ behaviours and soil and water loss. The survey results indicated that: (1) there was coupling relationship between farmers’ behaviors and the reasons and control measures of soil and water loss; (2) farmers’ behaviours such as unreasonable use of land, larger proportion of sloping land, and vegetation damage were the main causes of soil erosion; (3) farmers-planted trees and grass, terraces and tillage could help control and manage soil erosion, which can be taken as main measures of soil and water conservation in the north karst mountain area and should be promoted and developed in this area.
