This thesis used fractal theory and landscape ecology as guide for the study of land use spatial behavior in order to enhance the understaning of the changes on land use spatial behavior. Based on the spatial land use database of Zhenlai Town of Zhenlai County in Jilin Province, fractal dimension and stability of land use types were studied. The landuse was classified into 8 types: cropland, garden plot, wood land, grass land, water body, road land, industrial and mining and unused land. The fractal dimension for the patches of landuse types was analyzed. Results showed that all the landuse types had fractal characteristics and the fractal dimension (D) values varied from 1.056 5 to 1.960 4. In terms of landuse stability given by the fractal dimension, the order of landuse types from high to low level was water, garden plot, cropland, industrial and mining, grass land, wood land, unused land, road land. And landuse shape index, fragmentation index and the separation index in the spatial distribution pattern were largely affected by interference of human activities. The Results can provide reference for the rational utilization of land resources.
