For the sustainability of general agricultural system in arid area,Jinghe County of Xinjiang was chosen as a typical study area.This paper analyzed the input of its general agriculture system from the emergy point of view based on ternary diagram.Then the sustainability of system was evaluated.The results are as following:the emergy percentages of renewable resources and feedback from economic society are decreasing from 67% to 61% then to 48%,but increasing of un-renewable ones are 14%,24% and 38% in the 3-year study.At the same time,the index which can be used to indicate the sustainability of the system is descendent from the second sustainable area of 1990 to the third of 1999 and 2007 and the lowest index is in 2007 though it is sustainable.So lots of measures such as saving,protecting un-renewable resources and replacing it with renewable ones must be taken for the sustainable development of general agricultural system in Jinghe County.
