Taking Dongguan City with typical rapid urbanization in Guangdong as an example,the paper used mono-window algorithm of Qin to retrieve land surface temperature (LST) from Landsat/TM data.The average temperatures of 32 township districts were got from the LST subset extracted with the bound of 32 township districts.And the geographical division of LST in Dongguan City was studied according to the average LST of each town and the digital elevation model data.The result showed that the LST in Dongguan City can be divided into 4 zones:hill zone with low temperature,river networks inferior zone with low temperature,foothill or near-river-networks inferior zone with high temperature,and plain zone with high temperature.The hill zone with low temperature just included Xiegang Town.The river networks inferior zone with low temperature was located in Dongjiang River networks which were in the northwest.The foothill or near-river-networks inferior zone with high temperature included the alluvial plain in the southwest,the Dongjing River riverside in the northeast,and the foothill platform in the east.The plain zone with high temperature was located in the central and southern plain region.So LST was affected significantly by landscape,and the rational city planning should be based on the local geographic conditions.
