In order to determine coupling relationship between coal mining driving force and landscape pattern of land use, GIS and RS technology combined with landscape pattern analysis software FRAGSTATS were applied to analyze the change of landscape spatial pattern in Wudong mining area and its surrounding regions at the landscape level and patch level. The results showed that: the various effects of coal resources exploitation on the regions were the main reason that caused the change of landscape spatial pattern in the study area. The results will be helpful to explore the effects of coal exploitation on the landscape spatial pattern and can also apply a basement for the similar areas.
