According to the investigation of the structure and plant diversity of Pinus tabulaeformis stands, we got information on them and then summarized some basic rules which could promote the forest management. On the base of sample investigation in standard plots in the Chunhua county on the Loess Plateau, different density and site conditions of Pinus tabulaeformis stand and undergrowth plant diversity were compared and analyzed. The results showed that in the density of 2475 trees/hm2 of half-mature forest, the average diameter was larger and the diameter distribution was close to normal distribution; the diameter distribution was negatively skewed in the smaller density of mature forest and positively skewed in the larger ones. The small density of forest stand was useful for the Pinus tabulaeformis’ diameter growth and the large could promote the height growth. The diversity of species in half-mature forest was more than mature ones. The large stand density was not good for the growth of the understory plant.
