With the implementation of the project of returning farmlands to forests, the land use and ecological environment in the region is changing. In order to study the change of land use and ecosystem service value during the period of returning cultivated land to forest, this paper analyzed the effects of land use change on ecosystem service values in Shunping county from 2001 to 2008 by using the table of China land ecosystem service values of unit area, ESV computing formula, and ESV coefficients. Results showed that the land use change is mainly reflected by the decrease of cultivated land, other agricultural land and unused land, as well as the increase of orchard and perennial plantations, forest land, built-up and associated land and water area. And the total value of ecosystem service of land use in Shunping county increases year by year, and is significantly positive with the population, GDP and per capita net income of farmers, which indicated that the project of returning cultivated land to forest played a certain positive role in ecology, society and economy.
