- Based on land use type maps and sensing images, a remote sensing map of the lakeside zone of karst lakes in stone forest was drawn and interpreted by using GIS technique. Landscape type index and landscape pattern index were used to analyze land use changes in the study area in the period of 22 years. The results showed that the area of lakes reduced 215.05 hm2 from 1982 to 2004, and areas of other land use types reduced more or less except woodland and construction land. In addition, unused land in 1982 had been used entirely but the number of other land use types increased. Landscape fragmentation index increased obviously, and human-induced production exerted significant influence on land use in lakeside zone.
