By studying on soil water content(SWC%)and aboveground biomass of understory vegetation of Robinia pseudoacacia tree-land and abandoned farmland in Ansai county, the results showed that SWC% of Robinia pseudoacacia tree-land decreased with the trees growing-up. SWC% variation coefficient at 0-140 cm depth increased with the trees growing-up, but that of 140-500 cm depth had adverse trend. Aboveground biomass of understory vegetation of matured and over-matured tree-lands was faintly higher than that of abandoned farmland. We concluded that the productivity of Robinia pseudoacacia tree-land did not descend although the trees consumed most soil water and SWC% dropped down seriously.
