Aiming at promoting the prediction precision of soil erosion and providing the basis for the management of soil and water conservation in the small watershed,the spatial variability characteristics of soil anti-erodibility and its relation to soil properties were studied based on a case of study on Dengxia catchment in hilly area of southern Jiangsu province by the GIS software of GS+7.0 and Surfer 8.0.The results showed:the spatial variability of anti-erodibility at the studied area was significant difference,with the range from 0.1808 to 0.9681,mean of 0.6477,and variance coefficient of 27.69%.The C0/(C0+C) of soil anti-erodibility was 13.47%,that indicated that the soil anti-erodibility had strongly spatial self-relativity in the studied area.The whole distribution tendency of soil anti-erodibility presented belt-shaped obviously and fluctuated moderately,and the value of soil anti-erodibility was lower at the high region distributing at northern,eastern and western part of the catchment mainly,with soil and water loss arising easily.
