The alfalfa yields and soil moisture dynamic change of Haiyuan county were investigated over a period of 2002-2004.The results show that: (1) In 0-100cm,soil moisture declines in 0-60cm,then increases in 60-80cm in flat plots; and the most flourishing of alfalfa yields is at the sixth year.(2) In sloping field, the alfalfa yields and soil moisture decrease with altitude increasing, and their values are bigger in the north slope than in south slope.(3) The results show that in line with the mean soil moisture, the crops can be put in order as: alfalfa>potato>wheat>flax>pea1.
