Using Cili county as the study area, through contrasting and analyzing the aerial images of 1990 and 2003, the spatial and temporal changes characters of rocky-desertification was studied in this paper by using RS and GIS technology. The results show that control and destruction are coexited in Cili county, but the destruction intensity is larger than that of controling, and rocky-desertification situation has becoming more serious. There are efficient controling and conversion in lighter and middle degree rocky-desertification area while ineffictive in extreme degree rocky-desertification area. The amelioration rate of rocky-desertification land is lower than the deterioration rate of unrocky-desertification land. The rocky-desertification was mostly taken place in countryside. The first task should be prevention in ecological environment construction in Karst area. Protection should be taken into account seriously in latent rocky-desertification area and the controlling emphsis should be on barren hill suitable for forest. The transfomation of agriculture industrial structue and traditional cultivation model is the emphsis in the future.
