Land resource and ecologic environment will be in serious condition as a result that large areas of fertile land may be inundated after impounding of the Three Gorges Reservoir. To solve this problem,Soil Transfer and Muck Increase Project is being carried out which innovates the theory and model of the land consolidation. The paper summarizes the composing of the engineering designs and emphatically probes into the key engineering designs, including shifting soil to barren land and terracing of sloping fields by taking the land consolidation project in Xiakou, a town in Xingshan County, Hubei Province as an example. The study aims to provide reference for the further performance of the land consolidation in Three Gorges reservoir area and serves as a role model for the stripping and using of the topsoil of the occupied cultivated land due to construction in China.
