River as an important place used by the residents for production and living in the suburb of Beijing plays an important role in developing rural economy and environment protection. According to the investigation on the river use by residents living along the Yanqi River in the suburb of Beijing, the paper analyzes the reasons and driving force of river use changes in recent years. Choosing river reaches in tourist areas and village areas as the test reaches, we analyzed the response of dissolved oxygen (DO) and NH3-N in river on different river use models. The results showed that the development of folk custom traveling is the primary river use model of Yanqi River. The order of river use models is: small dams > villages > aquiculture and poultry > fishing > irrigation > cultivation. The response degree of DO on the river use is greater than NH3-N, but the NH3-N is easily influenced by the river use of residents living along the river.
