Ningnan-Shiluo Gully in Sichuan Province is a low-frequency debris flow gully,with drainage area of 33.25 km2,gully length of 17.19 km,relative altitude of 2 867 m and bed gradient of 142‰.On July 7,2006,an extremely wide debris flow disaster took place in the Shiluo Valley,Ningnan County.It costs direct economic loss 10.67 billion yuan,with one people disappeared and 8000 people were affected by this disaster.This debris flow cocurred with the characters,such as great size,strong impact,complex fluid type and great range of particle diameter along debris flow path.In this paper,the basic characteristics and formation condition of debris-flow in this area are analyzed,the potential of debris flow is predicted,and the control measures are proposed.
