The transpiration,photosynthesis of Platycladus orientalis and Ailanthus altissima in the semi-arid region of the Loess Plateau were studied.The Pn,E,Gs,WUE and Ci were analyzed.The result showed that the average Pn,E,WUE and Gs of Ailanthus altissima were higher than that of Platycladus orientalis;The Ci of Platycladus orientalis and Ailanthus altissima were changed by the change of Pn,the higher of Pn with lower Ci,on the contrary was higher.They have established different ecological strategy to adapt the environment.
