According to the precipitation data of 6 meteorological stations in Aba Prefecture from 1961 to 2010, temporal and spatial distribution of precipitation and its mutation were analyzed by annual uneven distribution coefficient(Cut), precipitation concentration degree (PCD), precipitation concentration period (PCP), Mann-Kendall test method and other methods combining with GIS spatial analysis technology. The results showed that: (1) in the past 50 years, precipitation in Aba was increasing, and the inclination rate was 4.25 mm per decade; the distribution of non-uniformity coefficient in precipitation was decreasing, the mean was 0.92. PCD and PCP were also declining, and the mean value was 0.57; the average value of PCP was 13.43 years, and Mann-Kendall curves was expressed as ‘ascending and descending alternately and stable’ and ‘descending-ascending-descending-ascending’; (2) the annual precipitation was decreasing from south to northeast and south, and Cut increased from east to northwest; PCD increased from east to west, and PCP had the characteristics of ‘southern early, northern late’; (3) for the synthetic analysis, PCD in the year with larger precipitation was slightly larger than that of the year with less precipitation, and it was larger in the southern part than the northern region. PCP with larger precipitation was later than the year with less precipitation, and PCP was later in northwest than any other place.
