The intensive use of agricultural land(cultivated land) is a necessary condition for sustainable development of economy and society. Taking 22 counties (cities) of cultivated land in Baoding City as the research objects, the land intensive use quantifying appraisal to the a cultivated land was carried on through building index system from 4 aspects (input intensity, land use intensity, land productivity effect, social and ecological benefits)with the entropy method, and the evaluation results was divided into 4 levels. The result showed that intensive score presented a small upper and lower amplitude fluctuation trend of cultivated land intensive use level from 1995 to 2010 in Baoding, whose intensive score was essentially flat in 1995 and 2010 though its current level, was not high in overall with an intensive score of 5.70; the scope of intensive cultivated land use changed little with spatial distribution of a higher intensity in eastern area and relatively low intensity in western regions. The results will provide a scientific basis for improving the level of intensive use of cultivated land for Baoding as well as the sustainable development of agriculture.
