Investigation of soil erosion is the basal process of soil and water loss control. Traditional investigation and statistic methods is not only time and strength consuming, but also imprecise. In recent years, the using of RS and GIS become widely in soil erosion investigation. Its veracity, velocity, less time consumption and strength-saving are unexampled in traditional methods. Based on the primary information derived from TM image, resorting to the powerful function in spatial analysis of ERDAS and ARC/INFO, and the field survey, the soil erosion remote sensing investigation in Zhongxian county was carried out. The study provides scientific basis and support of policy decision for soil and water conservation in this region, and has a positive effect on the sustainable development of economy and society of this area.
