As an important compound of forest, epiphytes had drawn increasing attention since 1970s.Despite its high biodiversity and huge biomass, epiphytes could also affect nutrient cycling and water cycling.Since epiphytes were sensitive to environment changing, some studies use epiphytes to monitor the effect of climate changing imposed on forest construction. The history background and the research development of the effect of epiphytes on water cycling in forest ecosystem and using epiphytes to monitor the climate changing are summarized. At last suggestions are given for future direction of epiphytes researching in China.
