Soil erosion has a great effect on the water environment, especially in the region with severe soil erosion potential in south China. The intervale area of upland between water and soil is the main pathway of eroded soil entering water. Experiment was conducted to investigate the distribution of soil nutrients in the intervale region. Based on the data, it could be induced to demonstrate the status of soil erosion and the effect on water quality. The results showed that the pH value was related to the position of soil in the intervale. Within the distance, pH was linear with the depth of position in the sediment. The content of organic matter decreased exponentially in the soil profile and was different among the positions in the intervale. In the sediment point, the content of organic matter decreased with depth in fluctuating. The content of nitrogen was linear with that of organic matter and its distribution was same as that of organic matter. Total phosphorus is no significance in all position, while available phosphorus is quite different from total phosphorus.
