The compound application of fallout radionuclides 7Be、210Pbex and 137Cs in the field of soil erosion and sediment sources are reviewed. The principle and characteristics of the nuclides ratio technology are introduced, using several nuclides compoundly to distinguish soil erosion processes and to estimate soil erosion rate;combining the different depth distribution of the fallout radionuclides in soils with one another to create reference curves of 7Be to 210Pb or 210Pb to7 Be and use them to determine the original soil depth of sediment. The advantages and limitations of all these methods are discussed.
